Burglary suspect won't talk

The man authorities suspect was involved in a string of home burglaries in the Meadowlake Village subdivision
remains uncooperative.
Harold Floyd Cohen Jr., 40, was arrested last month by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department
on two counts of home burglary. Since he was arrested, a third accusation of burglary has been levied against him.
“He’s
been linked to several burglaries as far back as spring of this year,” said Sgt. Dana Wolfe, a spokeswoman for the department,
also noting that she was not aware of any further burglaries in the neighborhood since Cohen’s arrest.
Cohen
has specifically been charged with burglaries in the 4500 block of Sioux Court, the 3000 block of Jerusalem Court and the
8400 block of Wade Road.
He is being held without bond and is expected to be arraigned in January.
Wolfe also
confirmed that Cohen was out on parole at the time of his arrest for previous home burglaries.
“They’re
actively working on the case and trying to recover property but as of yet they have not recovered any property taken in the
burglaries,” Wolfe said.
Five homes in the subdivision suffered from burglary or attempted burglary between
Oct. 24 and Nov. 1. The incidents all occurred during the daytime or early evening and include a home invasion that ended
in a 74-year-old man being hospitalized after he was beaten by whoever broke in to his home.
In another incident, a
homeowner on Breda Drive was able to scare off a man roughly matching Cohen’s description who attempted to kick in the
front door. Jewelry was the primary target in the burglaries.
