HCSO investigating fifth Meadowlake burglary
Published November 02, 2005
Another home was burglarized in the Meadowlake Village subdivision
Tuesday — the fifth one hit in past eight days.
“It’s got to be somebody who just moved into the
area or is recently targeting this area, for some reason,” said Harris County sheriff’s office Lt. John Martin.
This
time, a resident in the 7900 block of Bighorn Street returned home to find someone had broken in through a window and stolen
all of their jewelry.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dana Wolfe said Tuesday’s burglary
was consistent with the previous four.
“The window was broken out, entry was made and jewelry was stolen,”
she said.
Bighorn Street is directly off Breda Drive, where two of the other home invasions took place on Oct. 26.
The same day on Pawnee Street, a woman came home to find her front door wide open and jewelry taken from her house.
This
followed the Oct. 24 assault of 74-year-old man during a home invasion on Shoshone Drive. The victim's grandson discovered
him unconscious and rushed him to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital.
The injured man has reportedly been able to provide
information to investigators. Another Meadowlake resident who was home when a forced entry was attempted caught a glimpse
of the perpetrator, but not enough specific information to make a description public. There were no witnesses of the two burglaries.
The
subdivision already pays off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s deputies to keep and eye on the traditionally safe neighborhood.
On
Tuesday, the homeowners association announced it would increase patrols.
“We are stepping up security to 40
hours per week from 25 to 30,” HOA President Sheila Crianza said.
The sheriff’s office has assigned the
Burglary Apprehension Response Squard (BARS) to investigate the Meadowlake Village home invasions.
The suspect was
described by one of the homeowners is a black male in his early 20s.
Anyone with information on the home invasions
should call the Harris County Sheriff’s office at 713-455-8050.
